Now that I am managing to stay awake most days without taking a nap I am starting to find the energy and time to pay attention to my many and varied blog sort places. I always loved Vox. Soooo pretty.
And also, I love feeds. I've been looking into those over the last few days, especially since I am using Twitter again, as well as LJ, and various others (vague handwave). I have some time, not infinite time. Still.
Slowly looking to go back to work. Don't have to yet, and I may not be quite ready, but I am looking at what's available. Sending my CV a few places, talking to people. Nothing serious. Mostly I'm trying to get back into the habit of doing it. And, hopefully, I don't put myself back in bed for another year.
On another note, northern England is so damned beautiful. Sometimes in the winter I forget that. And then there are days like today, and I'm stunned all over again, and remember why I came home.
Show us your favorite album c
over.
This is the album Immortal Egypt, which I have had for years and years. My mum actually bought this for me for a birthday present, and it introduced me to Hossam Ramzy, who has been one of my favourite musicians since. I hadn't heard about Phil Thornton before this either, and I also have Eternal Egypt, which they collaborated on as well.
Do you tend to like music in particular genres, or are your tastes all over the place? What are your most and least favorite musical genres?
I listen to almost all genres of music. No, really. There are very few I won't listen to. However, I can be quite particular about which musicians within those genres that I listen to. There are very few rappers I will listen to, and even fewer country. I prefer world music, like Alabina, Mercan Dede, Hossam Ramzy, Rasa,Natacha Atlas... And then I am also in love with Matthew Sweet, Queen, The Feeling, Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong.

So my mum and sister returned from their holiday to Kos in Greece, today. And they brought gifts, which are always appreciated.
Only, they brought me absinthe, which is on one hand very cool of them,
but on the other hand, a bit thoughtless, seeing as I rarely drink
anything these days, due to blood sugar issues; the most I have is some
Bailey's in my coffee. Still, they did bring me some fabulous green
scarves, and some carved elephants, which are fantastic.
They also brought a neat little chess set for my son, with the greek
gods as the pieces, and a lovely shell, with a sea anemone that they
found on the beach. For my daughter they brought a cat doll and a cat
purse, and a belly dancing outfit that they found in Turkey. Very
nice.
I watched Dune with my kids the other night, and now the boy wants to read them, which I encourage; he has just finished the Zombie Survival Guide and is starting World War Z, so I think he will be able to push through Dune. Honestly though, I would be surprised if he made it through God Emperor because even I was bored out of my skull with that one; Chapter House was definately the best.
My hair is now even shorter, and dark purple. I am pleased with this, even if my hairdresser was not happy shaving the back off.
Had something else to say, but can't remember what it was. Thoughts flown back to the aethers. Or something something something.
What's your favorite card game?
That would be either Spades or Pinochle. I spent years playing these until I got saddled with the worst partner in the world (she always tried to cheat, and I refused to). We ended up kicking her out of the group, and never found a replacement. It was the end of an era. *cries*
No really, I grieve that this is even being reported on.
