Wow. Getting LoudTwitter sorted out was a fucking nightmare. But sorted it is! You will not be bothered by it any longer!
Show us your favorite album c
over.
This is the album Immortal Egypt, which I have had for years and years. My mum actually bought this for me for a birthday present, and it introduced me to Hossam Ramzy, who has been one of my favourite musicians since. I hadn't heard about Phil Thornton before this either, and I also have Eternal Egypt, which they collaborated on as well.
Do you tend to like music in particular genres, or are your tastes all over the place? What are your most and least favorite musical genres?
I listen to almost all genres of music. No, really. There are very few I won't listen to. However, I can be quite particular about which musicians within those genres that I listen to. There are very few rappers I will listen to, and even fewer country. I prefer world music, like Alabina, Mercan Dede, Hossam Ramzy, Rasa,Natacha Atlas... And then I am also in love with Matthew Sweet, Queen, The Feeling, Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong.
You can check out the majourity of my collection on mog, at http://mog.com/Caers/
I just found mog.com. Has anyone else here used this? It seems pretty neat, and I would love see some of you guys on there!
What's the best thing since sliced bread?
Portable music, hands down. In all its forms. First Walkman's, then CD Walkman's, the mp3 players (I have the iPod but any would work), along with portable speakers.
I am wondering if any of the (still active) people in my neighbourhood use last.fm. If you do, I am Neithe over there. Music is such a majour part of my life that I'm always on the look out for new stuff (new does not mean it just came out, it means I haven't heard it yet) and would love to see what you lot are listening to. Also, feel free to leave me a comment with any musician/band/composer you love.
Go to one random page in Explore Audio. What CD do you see that you're most interested in listening to?
Because I love The Streets...
Play any instrument or speak any language, which do you choose?
Question submitted by cruftbox.vox.com.
Hmm. I used to speak a couple of languages. My native is English. I grew also grew up speaking Italian, and later learned French. I can read both. Now, whilst I understand most Italian when it is spoken or written, and a decent enough amount of French, I don't speak either fluently; I could maybe hold a simple conversation.
I also play clarinet and flute, and can pick out a tune on the piano but I wouldn't call it playing :) I also sing, was trained to sing since I was young, and yes, the voice is an instrument, so don't let me hear you say otherwise. I still sing, but I can't perform anymore (I sang in choirs for years) because my anxiety/panic disorder is pretty bad. I also smoke, so I can't sing soprano anymore, and haven't been able to for several years.
So. If I could have my voice back as good as it was, or speak another language fluently again, which would it be?
Well. My voice is still good and strong, and I enjoy singing to my kids, and to music, or just around the house. Honestly, I don't really have any desire for more, now.
So it would have to be language. I would like to be fluent in French or Italian, I think. Most likely in French, because there is so much history in Southern France that I would dearly love to study. Plus, my favourite philosopher was French :)
In other not-so-news, I have a huge spider bite and it is irritating the hell out of me.
The game, Pentago, that I ordered and received, is bloody amazing and my kids are in love with it. Yay for thinky games!
My back is killing me in a way it hasn't for years. It's wound so tight I can hardly move without something popping, and it's starting to spasm again. This is not good. Last time it got this bad I ended up on meds for eight months, until I refused to take them anymore. My acupuncturist isn't helping anymore, and I think I may need to start going back to a chiropractor for adjustments again. Fucking spine! Grr!

Who I am today:
So. Another day of compulsive spending. I am such a consumer whore. I bought my sister an iPod of her ownsome (hey, she's spending her summer off from uni to come to America and watch my hellbeasts')-the 512 mb Shuffle, which is only $70, plus a neat little case for it (my kids have the same cases for their Shuffles, and they work great).
And so, of course, having a bit of cash in the old account, and being the impulse buyer that I am (damn me, I'll never save any money at this rate!), I had to go look around at some speakers for my own iPod (the 30gb video). Mmmm sooo pretty.
It's a sickness, yes. But oooo pretty! ::gleeful dance::
In other news...I had bought my dad a pair of Spiderman shoes (since he wouldn't quit bitching about how I had Batman shoes but are there Spidey shoes anywhere? nooooo!); it took my sister and I nearly two weeks of searching the internets to find a good pair for him. And they came today and YAYness! He loves them. I am pleased.
My set of the Brisco County Jr dvds should be here by the end of the week too. Mmmm Bruce Campbell-ey goodness! Something to watch now that I have finished watching my due South dvds.
...No, I don't need to get a life. My dvds and music provide a more than adequate approximation of one, thankyouverykindly.
